GTCC Board of Trustees Welcomes Bettye Young-Stewart

Bettye Young-Stewart has been appointed by the Guilford County Board of Education to the GTCC Board of Trustees. She will serve a four-year term.

JAMESTOWN, N.C. – Bettye Young-Stewart has been appointed by the Guilford County Board of Education to the GTCC Board of Trustees. She will serve a four-year term and replaces James Bryant III whose term expired June 30.

Young-Stewart is a retired administrator from North Carolina A&T State University where she served for 11 years as director for operations and compliance at the university’s student health center. She also served as the center’s interim executive director from 2013-2015.

Before her career in higher education, Young-Stewart held various positions including, the director of public relations at L. Richardson Memorial Hospital, a financial planner at Life of Virginia Insurance Company, and a criminal case consultant at the Law Office of Walter T. Johnson, Jr. Esquire.

Young-Stewart is a certified mediator and conflict resolution trainer and has operated her own business since 1985. At Individualized Service Providers Incorporated, she trains and implements mediation certifications, cultural diversity, team building, etiquette, public relations, and anti-bullying programs.

She holds a Master of Science degree in adult education from N.C. A&T State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in behavioral science from Shaw University. Young-Stewart resides in Pleasant Garden.
